Sustainable Forestry is the management of forest resources in such a way that meets the current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.Forest industry remains pivotal to Pakistan,if it is to expand further then should be managed properly and sustainably via following means:
- Pakistan should supply natural gas to its nothern regions to ease the burden on fuelwood.
- Reserving land for fuelwood plantations to protect valuable species of trees
- Restricting use of bulldozers and heavy destructive machinery
- Planting commercial species alongs roadsides and openspaces that take less time to grow
- Government should impose quotas and fines against excessive cutting of trees
- Launching afforestation programmes e.g Rachna Doab and Billion tree project
- Ensure sustainable forestry via selective cutting methods such as horse logging
